Withywood Instruments

Each instrument combines traditional techniques with a splash of imagination. No two are identical, with varying tonewoods or hardware etc - each has a voice & character of its own.

All materials used are high quality, instrument grade timbers from dedicated luthier suppliers in the UK. Hardware and strings are high quality parts from well respected, market leading manufacturers. Combined with tried & tested construction techniques and many years of experience of woodworking, Withywood instruments are crafted with care to give years of music making pleasure.

Ukuleles

A traditional design. The Birchmoor - with front, back & sides in the same tonewood. The Pillmoor features a European Spruce front. Reentrant (GCEA) tuning. Low G tuning sometimes available on Tenor ukes only.

Ukulele

A unique modern design. The Blakemoor - front, back & sides in the same tonewood. Contrasting fretboard. Internal passive piezo pickup as standard. Reentrant tuning - or low G tuning on tenor ukes only.

Mandolin

My flat-top celtic style design. The Athelney - Spruce front for plenty of volume and sustain. My own design, handmade tailpiece & bridge. Adjustable truss rod & internal passive piezo pickup.

Octave
Mandolin

Designed with the same features as the Athelney mandolin, the Westhay octave has a warmer tone and more volume. Tuned an octave lower than the mandolin.
