Blakemoor Concert Ukulele
This latest addition to the collection is crafted from one piece of Wenge - a rich, dark chocolate brown tonewood known for its Rosewood-like tonal qualities. To complement the rich colour, Australian Blackwood has been used for the fretboard and bridge. Around the front of the instrument and the headstock is a contrasting red stripe of veneer. Machineheads are Grover chrome with complementary black buttons. Finished with a hardwax oil finish, this instrument looks a good as it sounds.

Prototype Blakemoor Soprano Ukulele
This ukulele is the very first prototype of my Blakemoor design. It features a fretboard in Wenge which runs all the way down the instrument, incorporating the bridge and string slots. The body is from a piece of reclaimed Mahogany with no binding on the front or back. As a prototype instrument, it was made as an experiment to see if the design worked as an instrument and led to later design modifications also available above. It may also feature different strings and/or machineheads when purchased.

Caring for your new Withywood instrument
All Withywood instruments are finished with a quality hardwax oil finish. This is resistant to wear, water, sweat, stains from liquids such as wine and more. It is also safe for children.
The only care needed for the finish is a dry, good quality instrument cleaning cloth after every use. Removing sweat, dead skin and other dirt after each session prolongs the life of the finish and the tone of the instrument.
Cleaning the strings after each use also prolongs their life and tone - particularly with wound strings as on my mandolins, octave mandolins and dulcimers.
Avoid keeping instruments in damp, humid conditions. Keep instruments out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources such as a fire or radiators.
When not in use, or during transport, it is best to keep your instrument in a well fitting, protective case or gigbag. The use of a good heavy-duty instrument stand will also help prevent physical damage.
