About Withywood
Withywood is the latest chapter in my journey in woodcraft. Combining a love of music with 25 years of woodworking & woodmachining (both DIY & professionally) and a love of making instruments.
The first instrument I made was an octave mandolin 25 years ago, and since then the list has grown to include guitars, mandolins, ukuleles and more. None of those first instruments are around anymore - they were a learning exercise. But through those early experiments, the skills and knowledge have grown.
What began as a hobby has now become Withywood Ukuleles & Mandolins - not just a name, but an outlet though which others can discover and enjoy the fruits of my journey.
It is my hope that my instruments will bring joy to those who play them, and also to those who listen.
All instruments are my own unique designs and made in my small workshop in Somerset.
